Hope you are all having a great week and are surviving the treacherous windy conditions outdoors. We have some important announcements:
Our next meeting will take place next Thursday, October 6th. We plan on going bowling at Mardi Gras Lanes on Sycamore Rd. at 7p.m. Please let us know if anyone needs a ride or can drive to the bowling alley.
Important dates to put on your calendar:
-October 22 - STEMFest at the Convocation Center 11:00 a.m. ~ 5:30 p.m.
-November 1- Joint meeting with Chicago AMS chapter Davis Hall 121 7p.m.
-November 10 (Tentatively) John Haase from NWS Quad Cities 5 p.m. Davis Hall 121
-November 18- GEOG/MET Career Day Davis Hall 121 Mid-Afternoon to evening
Other possible events that we would like to have your input on include tailgating at the home football games on October 8th and 15th. If you would be interested, please send an email back so we know how many people we have/where we can park to tailgate.
Finally, we would like to introduce the idea of having sub-committees that would allow student participation, and help the board members make AMS an enjoyable and fulfilling experience for all. Most importantly, we would like to put together a group of 3-5 people immediately to help plan what activties to present at the STEMFest. STEMfest is rapidly approaching in three weeks. If you would be interested in helping out with the STEMfest, please send an email with your name indicating your interest and possible ideas you may have. Other committees we would like to see include a fundraising group, so that we can do more things and possibly help fund trips (i.e. Des Moines Conference), as well as a social events planning committee.
